Sustainable living in Valencia pt.2 - SHOPPING GROCERIES
LIVING SUSTAINABLE HAS TO BE EXPENSIVE?
That's not true - if you know WHERE you get it the cheapest around Valencia!
What are biggest problems when trying to live sustainable? Especially when grocery shopping, I found out for most people it is: AVAILABILITY, CONVENIENCE and COST. Let me help you with all three of them:
⇨ ๐ AVAILABILITY: Is there even a sustainable store nearby where I live?
YES, most likely! Check out the list and the map below to find the one nearest to you!
(Maybe there are even some more...)

⇨ ✌️ CONVENIENCE: Is it easy to get sustainable food without much hassle?
YES! There are many stores nowadays - maybe right nearby - OR you go to the market OR you can even get a weekly box delivered with local, seasonal, fresh, organic veggies & fruits from Valencia! You chose what fits you most! A part of convenience is also the quality of the products. Compare if you get the best quality for your buck...
(Plus save all the of unwrapping and trashing the plastic packaging by bringing your own reusable bags and containers)

⇨ ๐ถ COST: Isn't it super expensive to buy organic food?
NO! It doesn't have to be! You can save 25% (on average!) or even more, if you buy stuff where it is cheaper. And if you buy fresh, local & seasonal and with less intermediates, it's probably even cheaper than the (plastic wrapped, processed, imported, full of pesticide, etc.) goods from a supermarket nearby...
These are the most sustainable stores and box delivery services I've found so far here in Valencia and especially around the quarter of Ruzafa:
(sorted by the average savings in each store)
1. Biosofia (Ruzafa) - saving 23% on average
2. AGRO Life (Mercado Ruzafa) - saving 21% on average
3. TERRA i XUFA (Mercado Ruzafa) - saving 17% on average
4. Herbolario Navarro (various locations) - saving 15% on average
5. ecorganic (GranVia) - saving 12% on average
6. El teu hort (Ruzafa) - saving 12% on average
7. mastika l'horta (๐ฆ Box-Delivery) - saving 11% on average
8. BioBASIC (Ruzafa) - saving 7% on average
Find all the details below, by clicking on the cards of each store:
Of course, all products are rated by the L.O.V.E.-Scoring (Local, Organic, Vegan, Eco), plus you see the quality of the products, which types of products are sold how many prices have been checked already and of course the address and link to the store - PLUS a special insider hint from me. Do you like this article and the "L.O.V.E. Price Check App"? Here's what you can do to benefit from more price checks, more stores, more product categories and a more detailed comparison - so finally better transparency for sustainable grocery shopping:
If you live here in Valencia, there's already this data base set up for you. To provide you with more and more (free) cost comparisons, it would be great if you add your most bought goods and add some new prices every once in a while. It literally only takes a few seconds while you are in the store. The Valencian L.O.V.E. community will thank you for that! And of course YOU will know, if you maybe better buy it somewhere else ;-)
